Exceptions to confidentiality are suspected child abuse, dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report to appropriate authorities immediately.
When a client voices a plan to do bodily harm to another person,
I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
When a client voices intent to harm self, I will request that he go to the nearest ER.
